TOWN OF SCITUATE LIBRARY BUILDING PROJECT

Scituate, MA – (RealEstateRama) — The Public Building Commission of the Town of Scituate, Massachusetts will issue periodic public updates about the construction progress for the Town Library project. Groundbreaking occurred on September 1, 2015. The project remains on budget. Completion is anticipated for early 2017.

Construction is over 60% complete. The framing on the lower level of the building is complete and the main level framing is well underway. Insulation installation is complete throughout most of the building. Over 80% of the final roofing material has been installed. Electrical rough work is 50% complete. Elevator installation has begun. Exterior trim installation has begun and will continue for the next month. Initial paving of the parking area is complete and curbs are being installed. Sidewalk paving will be completed this week. The final parking area paving coat will be applied in December. Because of the drought, most landscaping installation will be deferred until the spring. Town officials are finalizing specifications for the building security and data systems.

The Library staff is finalizing the design of the main circulation desk as well as some other specialized-use furniture and signage. The Trustees continue to develop and implement revised policies to support uses within the new Library.
