Massachusetts REALTORS Proclaim Congressman Barney Frank its First ‘Distinguished Champion of Housing Opportunities’
Presentation made at the New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Congressional Luncheon
WALTHAM, MA – April 01, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) announced today that it has named Congressman Barney Frank, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, its first “Distinguished Champion of Housing Opportunities.” Chairman Frank received the proclamation from the Association for his tireless work and support for legislation and regulations to ensure a robust and sustainable housing market. MAR made the presentation to the Chairman at the New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Congressional Luncheon on Friday, March 27, 2009 in Acushnet, Mass.
“Chairman Frank has long been a leading voice in Congress on the importance of housing opportunities – both homeownership and affordable rental housing – for residents of Massachusetts and the entire country for years,” said MAR President Gary Rogers, a broker at RE/MAX First Realty in Waltham. “As Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, he is working hard to support the housing market and its role in helping to pull the economy out of this recession.”
The proclamation, which was presented by MAR CEO Robert N. Authier and approved by the MAR Board of Directors at its September 2008 meeting, highlighted the Chairman’s work in crafting and passing the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008; his work to reform the Federal Housing Administration and increasing its loan limits; and his efforts to offer a tax-credit for first-time homebuyers.
