27 City-Owned Properties Set for Auction June 21

May 31, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — With the arrival of summer finally upon us, The City of Springfield will, once again, team up with Daniel J. Flynn & Co., of Quincy, to hold its second auction of 2011. The portfolio for this auction includes twenty-seven (27) properties in tax-title possession and is scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Registration begins at 5:00 P.M., and the auction will begin promptly at 6:00 P.M. The ballroom-style Auction will be conducted at Springfield City Hall located at 36 Court Street, Springfield, MA.

The twenty-seven (27) city-owned property portfolio consists of eleven residential homes, residential and commercial lots and one commercial property. Open houses will be conducted on Monday, June 20th, at the sites of the residential homes and the single commercial property. Times for entry are to be determined and will be published on the auctioneer’s website, at www.flynnauctions.com, once finalized.

“The City has been very aggressive with its tax taking process and getting these properties back on the tax rolls is a huge benefit to the City,” stated Mayor Domenic J. Sarno. “More importantly, when these residences are rehabbed it has a tremendous impact on the abutting property owners’ quality of life and adds to the overall aesthetics of our City’s neighborhoods,” added Sarno.

“With nicer weather upon us, we expect to have a full house. There are great values out there for buyers looking to invest in and purchase real estate,” stated auctioneer, Dan Flynn. A 5% buyer’s premium covers the auction fee so the cost is added to each high bid, which represents the final sale price. Anyone interested is strongly encouraged to visit these properties at the open houses scheduled for Monday, June 20th. Auction participation requires bidders to come prepared with a certified or bank check, made out to themselves, in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) per property.

Interested parties should check the city’s Auction Info web page or the Daniel J. Flynn & Co., website www.flynnauctions.com for specific open house schedules and property information.
