Governor Baker Announces $26 Million in Community Development Block Grants

New England Greenhouse Gas Initiative A Billion-Dollar Economic and Environmental Success

A new economic study released today by the Analysis Group on the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) reports how the regional cap and trade program that includes nine states has generated $1.3 billion in economic value for the region and $460 million in savings for consumers between 2012 and 2014. Combining these newly calculated benefits to the value added by the RGGI program during 2009-2011, the total economic value added since 2009 is nearly $3 billion and the savings for consumers surpassed $1.5 billion.

Massachusetts Man Sentenced to Over Seven Years in Prison for Interstate Transportation of Stolen...

U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II of the District of Maine announced today that Lawrence Estrella, 65, of Worcester, Massachusetts, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court by Judge George Z. Singal of the District of Maine to 92 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release for interstate transportation of stolen property. Estrella pleaded guilty on Feb. 20, 2015.

Massachusetts Closed Home Sales and Median Sales Price Down in May

The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that single-family home sales in May were down over five percent compared to the same time last year. The median price of single family homes was also down for the first time in eight months. New listings added to the market were up almost eight percent over last year. Condominium closed sales and median prices were both up.

There are now more than 20,000 megawatts of installed solar capacity in the United States, with more than 60 percent of it installed in just the past two years. This expansion in population translates into increased water usage and demands upon our water distribution system. The Fourth of July observance is when this typically peaks.
