Boston 2050: High Water Exhibition Opens at Grove Hall Branch July 27
The High Water Collective’s exhibition Boston 2050: High Water opens on July 27 and runs through October 31 at the Grove Hall Branch of the Boston Public Library, focusing on the impact of predicted flooding in Boston neighborhoods. Artists selected for this exhibition are from Boston and around the globe, utilizing mixed media pieces, painting, sculpture, photography, installation work, and drawings to convey the dangers of flooding and higher waters, with the intent to initiate conversation within communities. An opening exhibition reception takes place on Thursday, August 6, from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. and features guest speakers civil rights activist Mimi Jones and spoken word poet Ant Thomas
City of Boston Announces ParkBoston App Live Through Additional Neighborhoods
The City of Boston today announced that the ParkBoston app is now live through Back Bay, Fenway/Kenmore, Downtown, Beacon Hill, the North End, the West End and Charlestown, and will be active in South Boston, the South End, Mission Hill, Allston and Brighton by the end of the summer. The app allows drivers to quickly and easily remotely pay a meter with their mobile phone, avoiding the hassle of finding quarters or running back to the meter to add more time before it expires.

New England Greenhouse Gas Initiative A Billion-Dollar Economic and Environmental Success
A new economic study released today by the Analysis Group on the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) reports how the regional cap and trade program that includes nine states has generated $1.3 billion in economic value for the region and $460 million in savings for consumers between 2012 and 2014. Combining these newly calculated benefits to the value added by the RGGI program during 2009-2011, the total economic value added since 2009 is nearly $3 billion and the savings for consumers surpassed $1.5 billion.

Did you know that the Town of Scituate’s population increases from 18,000 to 30,000 residents during the summer months? This expansion in population translates into increased water usage and demands upon our water distribution system. The Fourth of July observance is when this typically peaks. This year, along with high temperatures and the repairs currently being made to the system, brown water is anticipated over the July 4th weekend observance and at other times during the summer.
