MassHousing Becomes BBA Sponsor

-

WASHINGTON D.C. – December 16, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Boston Bar Association (BBA) is pleased to announce that MassHousing has become a BBA sponsor, supporting the BBA’s mission to advance the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession, facilitate access to justice, serve the community at large, and promote diversity and inclusion.

MassHousing is an independent, quasi-public agency created in 1966 and charged with providing financing for affordable housing in Massachusetts. Since its inception, MassHousing has provided more than $18.5 billion for affordable housing. The organization’s mission is to increase affordable housing options for Massachusetts residents by being the leading provider of responsible lending resources to address the underserved housing needs of low-and moderate-income residents and communities.

“Supporting the mission of the BBA is important to MassHousing because the BBA plays a critical educational and leadership role in the legal profession and the community at large. The professionalism, commitment and creativity of the affordable housing bar is essential to the Commonwealth’s housing agenda,’’ said MassHousing Executive Director Tom Gleason.
MassHousing General Counsel Karen Kelleher, who recently completed a two-year term co-chairing the BBA’s Affordable Housing subcommittee, added, “the BBA consistently supports housing issues in the Commonwealth through its educational programs, advocacy efforts, pro bono programs and community service commitments.”
Prior to joining our growing group of sponsor organizations earlier this year, MassHousing has supported the BBA’s annual Law Day Dinner. Individual representatives from MassHousing have also lent their expertise to a variety of educational programs at our headquarters at 16 Beacon Street.

The BBA would like to thank MassHousing for their commitment to building a better community. We look forward to an ongoing partnership with this commendable agency.

The Boston Bar Association traces its origins to meetings convened by John Adams, who provided pro bono representation to the British soldiers prosecuted for the Boston Massacre and went on to become the nation’s second president. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession, facilitate access to justice, serve the community at large and promote diversity and inclusion.
