The MassHousing M/WBE vendor program helps Minority and Women-Owned Businesses benefit from the economic opportunities created by MassHousing-financed rental housing. In fiscal year 2013, the 520 rental housing developments financed by MassHousing generated approximately $198.7 million in contracts for goods, services and supplies. Of this amount, $37.5 million (18.9%) went to MBEs and $24.8 million (12.5%) went to WBEs.

As part of its effort to encourage equal opportunities for M/WBEs, MassHousing tracks the expenditures for property maintenance as well as goods and services within the apartment communities that the Agency has financed. It then recognizes those management companies that award significant funds to M/WBEs at an annual awards ceremony.

“The commitment these management companies make to Minority and Women-Owned Businesses has a profound impact not only on our state’s economy, but also in the creation of jobs that benefit thousands of families across Massachusetts,” said MassHousing Executive Director Thomas R. Gleason. “We commend all of these companies for their efforts to use Minority and Women-Owned Businesses and for the economic opportunities they help create every year.”
