Northfield Broker Named 2018 Recipient of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors® Private Property Rights Award

WALTHAM, Mass. – (RealEstateRama) — The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) today announced that Corinne Fitzgerald of Northfield, Broker/Owner of Fitzgerald Real Estate in Greenfield, has been named the 2018 recipient of the MAR Private Property Rights Award. Fitzgerald received the award at the Association’s annual Realtor® Day on Beacon Hill event that took place at the Massachusetts State House on June 7, 2018.

Corinne Fitzgerald’s commitment to homeownership and private property rights has led her to donate countless hours volunteering for this organization at the local, state and federal level,” said 2018 MAR President Rita Coffey. “Until homeowners have their own professional trade association, Corinne’s work—and that of other Realtors® like her—is invaluable in ensuring the rights associated with owning, possessing and transferring real property.”

A Realtor® since 1986, Fitzgerald served as MAR President in 2015. An MAR Director since 1999, Fitzgerald has been a member of the Executive Committee in various positions almost every year since 2003. She has served on many committees over her career, most recently serving on the Professional Standards, Personnel and Government Affairs Committees. In 2008, Fitzgerald was named the Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award recipient.

On the local level, Fitzgerald was the 2012 President of the Realtor® Association of Pioneer Valley (RAPV). Fitzgerald was a member of the Board of Directors from 2007 to 2013 . In 2009 she was the RAPV Realtor® of the Year. Fitzgerald was also the President of the former Franklin-Hampshire County Association of Realtors® in 2000 and its Realtor® or the Year in 2001.

At the national level, Fitzgerald has been a member of the National Association of Realtors® Data Strategies since 2015. She served on the national Consumer Communications Committee for two years. She has also been a member of the Housing Needs Committee in 2003 and 2004. From 2010 to 2012 Fitzgerald served as the Federal Political Coordinator for Senator Scott Brown.

The MAR Public Policy and Property Rights Advocacy Award was created in 2011 by MAR to recognize the outstanding achievements of Massachusetts Realtors® or staff who has been active and successful in helping the Association achieve its objectives of increased access to home ownership and the preservation of private property rights.
