Mortgage Lender and CEO Agree to Settle to Resolve Allegations of False Insurance Claims
The U.S. Attorney’s Office has reached a $1,025,000 civil settlement with First American Mortgage Trust, d/b/a NXTLoan.com, a small mortgage lender based in Brighton, Mass., and its founder and CEO, Barry S. Polack, in connection with allegations that they submitted false insurance claims on mortgages insured by the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Federal Housing Administration (FHA).

Governor Charlie Baker Reappointed Michael J. Dirrane as Chairman of the MassHousing Board of Directors. Dirrane is the longest-serving Board Member in the Agency’s 50-year history and at the completion of his new seven-year term will have served for 30 years, 21 of which will have been as Chairman. Dirrane leads the nine-member Board that governs MassHousing, which has provided more than $20 billion for affordable housing over five decades.
Massachusetts Pending Home Sales Higher in September
The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) reported today that the number of homes put under agreement in September were up close to 18 percent from last year. Condominium pending sales were also up over 22 percent as prices for both property types continue to go up. McGovern Announces $7.7 Million for Worcester Airport

The Public Building Commission of the Town of Scituate, Massachusetts will issue periodic public updates about the construction progress for the Town Library project. Groundbreaking occurred on September 1, 2015. The project remains on budget. Completion is anticipated for early 2017.
