Boston, MA – August 15, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — In an effort to ensure compliance of the Rental Registration and Inspection Program, Boston Inspectional Services Department (ISD) office will be open on the following Saturday’s , August 17th & August 24, 2013, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. During this time staff will be on hand to provide assistance to property owners with registering their rental units.

In an effort to promote safe, sanitary and code compliant housing, the City of Boston has amended the Rental Inspection Ordinance, requiring the annual registration of all private rental units and inspection of all non-exempt rental units to be conducted once every five years. In order to educate and accommodate property owners of the Rental Registration Program, this year’s registration deadline has been extended to August 31, 2013.

During this month ISD staff will provide registration assistance by touring the city with the Mayors City Hall Truck, weekly neighborhood meetings as well as host a resource and registration table twice a week at city hall.

Under the Registration and Inspection Program privately owned property owners must register their rental units by logging onto www.cityofboston.gov/isd/housing/rental.asp. Property owners that do not have access to a computer can pick up an application (paper form) from the ISD at Mass Ave., Boston 5th flr., call to request an application by mail, or download a pdf copy from website.
