Massachusetts Association of REALTORS Charitable Foundation Makes $3,000 Donation to ‘Homes for our Troops’
WALTHAM, MA - December 15, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation made a $3,000 donation to Homes for Our Troops, a national non-profit organization that provides homes at no cost to severely injured Servicemen and Servicewomen and their immediate families. The donation was presented to Homes for Our Troops at the “Build Brigade” for the construction of the home for Army Sergeant Michael Downing on Friday, December 11, 2009 in Middleboro. Downing was on his second deployment when he was left a double amputee after an IED explosion in Afghanistan in September 2008.

WALTHAM, MA - November 25, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that single-family home sales were up over 17 percent compared to October 2008 as buyers made sure to take advantage of the first-time homebuyer tax credit before it was set to expire. Condominium sales also were up 17 percent. Median prices were down 2.6 percent compared to last year, while condominium median prices were down 4.0 percent. October pending sales (homes put under agreement) were up 27 percent from the same time last year. This is the fifth straight month of increases.

Massachusetts Home Sales Up for Third Consecutive Month
WALTHAM, MA - October 27, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that single-family home sales increased for the third straight month compared to the same time last year. Median prices were down only 1.7 percent compared to September 2008, while condominium median prices were up 1.7 percent. For the fourth month in a row, the number of pending sales (homes put under agreement in September) was up seven percent from the same time last year.

WALTHAM, MA - September 29, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that the number of pending sales (homes put under agreement in August) was up 6.0 percent from the same time last year – the third straight month of year-over-year gains. Sales of single-family homes were virtually the same compared to August of last year (up 0.4 percent), while condominium sales were down 3.5 percent. Median prices continue to be at their highest point in 2009.

It was the first time since December 2008 that home sales have gone up year-over-year. Condominium sales were also up for the first time since August 2007. WALTHAM, MA - July 28, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that median home prices for single-family homes are back above $300,000 for the first time since August 2008. On a year-over-year basis, median prices were down 8.6 percent for single-family homes and down 6.6 percent for condos. Despite those decreases, single-family home sales were down only 1.9 percent compared to June 2008 while condo sales were down 13.4 percent.
