WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — The Public Building Commission of the Town of Scituate, Massachusetts will issue periodic public updates about the construction progress for the Town Library project. Groundbreaking occurred on September 1, 2015. The project remains on budget. Completion is anticipated for late 2016/early 2017.
The steel framing for the new roof and lantern feature have been erected. Wood roof framing and sheathing work is moving along steadily. Floor decking is in place and concrete slab will be poured this week. The new central staircase opening has been created. The stairs will be built upon material delivery.
Because the costs associated with the unforeseen conditions (primarily the redesign and installation of the entire roof structure and supporting piers) have significantly reduced the contingency allowance carried for the project, the design team presented a number of options to the PBC which identify potential cost-saving changes to the project. The PBC considered a number of options, such as reducing the furniture budget, which will enhance the contingency allowance for the remainder of construction. These measures are designed to ensure that the project costs remain on budget.
The design team has begun work on the interior signage design with APCO. The Interior Design Committee continues to work on furniture and color selections.
