REALTOR® Nationwide Open House Weekend being held in conjunction with MassHousing’s ‘Opportunity Knocks’ Homebuyer Fairs

WALTHAM, MA – April 6, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — REALTORS® across Massachusetts and the country will be hosting open houses as part of the first-ever REALTOR® Nationwide Open House Weekend on April 10-11.  With favorable market conditions and the availability of homebuyer tax credits, buyers will have the opportunity to tour an increased number of open houses in their desired communities.   Participating open houses will be marked with blue REALTOR® “R” balloons and be listed on www.MaRealtorOpenHouse.com.

“For people looking to buy, there are a lot of good reasons to do so now,” said 2010 President of the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® Kevin Sears, broker/co-owner of Sears Real Estate in Springfield.  “The REALTOR® Nationwide Open House event will give those buyers the opportunity to look at as many open houses as possible in one weekend and do it in time to potentially take advantage of the homebuyer tax credit.”

The first-ever REALTOR® Nationwide Open House Weekend is a collaboration of state and local REALTOR® Associations across the country.  The goal of the event is to give buyers the opportunity to see as many open houses as possible, while giving sellers a better opportunity to have their homes seen.  Buyers and sellers interested in participating should contact their local REALTOR®.  To find a REALTOR® go to: http://www.marealtor.com/content/FindARealtor.htm

Opportunity Knocks:
The REALTOR® Nationwide Open House Weekend is also being held in conjunction with MassHousing’s “Opportunity Knocks” series of Homebuyer Fairs taking place in five mall locations across the state on Saturday April 10.  At these fairs, first-time homebuyers can meet REALTORS®, MassHousing-approved lenders and homebuyer counselors and then visit a wide selection of open houses taking place that weekend.

Homebuyers can go to www.masshomefair.com for information and to find open houses that are eligible for MassHousing financing.

“The Opportunity Knocks Homebuyer Fairs are a great way for first-time homebuyers to become better informed about the homebuying process and to learn what resources are available to them if and when they decide to purchase a home,” said Sears.
