Baker-Polito Administration Awards $31,300 in Housing Grants to Beverly and Sunderland
The Baker-Polito Administration announced a total of $31,300 in Planning Assistance Toward Housing (PATH) grant awards to Beverly and Sunderland, to help these communities meet their housing needs. Beverly and Sunderland join 17 communities across the Commonwealth that have received a PATH grant award since the program’s authorization in 2014.
Boston Housing Authority and Beacon Communities Development Partner for the Rehabilitation of Lenox/Camden Development
In partnership with the Boston Housing Authority, Beacon Communities Development LLC will lead the revitalization of Boston Housing Authority’s Lenox/Camden Apartments in Lower Roxbury. The Lenox/Camden family public housing development includes 285 units of federally subsidized housing in the Lenox portion of the site and 72-units in the adjacent state funded Camden portion of the site. The developers will play a lead role in all aspects of the relevant permitting, design, financing and construction of this project
Westminster, Mass. Company Settles with EPA for Claims of Clean Water Violations
A Massachusetts resins manufacturer has agreed to pay a $38,860 penalty to settle claims by the US Environmental Protection Agency that it violated federal clean water laws. EPA’s allegations involve an incident on Sept. 30, 2014 when employees of Advance Coatings Co. in Westminster, Mass. were routinely filling containers with Styrene, a chemical compound used in making resins.

Keating And Rothfus Introduce Bipartisan Naloxone Legislation
Congressmen Bill Keating (D-MA) and Keith Rothfus (R-PA) today introduced the Co-Prescribing Saves Lives Act of 2016 (H.R. 4841). The bill would encourage physicians to co-prescribe naloxone alongside opioid prescriptions, and make naloxone more widely available in federal health settings. Along with federally qualified health centers, the bill specifically requires the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Indian Health Service to develop their own co-prescribing guidelines tailored to their individual needs
