The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) announced today that MAR Past President Judy Moore, a broker at the Higgins Group in Lexington, was recently presented with the 2016 Federal Political Coordinator (FPC) Meritorious Service Award at the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo this May. Moore was one of two Realtors® from across the country who was honored. She received the recognition for her long and outstanding service as the FPC for Massachusetts Congresswoman Kathryn Clark and previously for Massachusetts Senator John Kerry.

The Town of Framingham’s Economic Development Industrial Corporation (EDIC) has allocated $35,000.00 to assist business and property owners in Framingham who wish to improve their storefronts. The funds are currently targeted for the Nobscot and Saxonville areas; however, businesses in other areas of Town are eligible for consideration

The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) reported today that February proved to be another record month for closed home sales, as buyer activity pushed closed sales to its highest levels for the month since 2004. While single-family closed sales were up by more than 24 percent, median prices went down for the first time in nine months. The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) reported today that homebuyers took advantage of mild winter weather, moderating home prices and mortgages rates hitting a 12-month low (3.695%*) to push pending home sales up to their highest level in the month of February since MAR began recording this data in 2004. Unsurprisingly, Realtors® confidence in the market was positive again in February.

Activity in the final months of 2015 pushed closed sales to its highest levels for a month of January since 2004. While single-family closed sales were up, median prices were essentially level compared to the same time last year. Condominium sales also closed up with median prices down almost one percent

The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) reported today that 2015 closed out with seven straight months of sales increases with December having the most closed sales of any December since 2004. Median prices were also up for seven straight months as home values neared pre-recession peaks. While condominium sales were up in December, prices were flat from 2014.

Paul Yorkis, President of Patriot Real Estate, Inc., in Medway, was installed on December 7, 2015, as president-elect of the 21,000-member Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) for 2016. The event took place at Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club in Brewster, Mass. and included the installation of the MAR Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Yorkis’s term officially begins on January 1, 2016

The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that home sellers were thankful for strong buyer activity in November as pending home sales were up close to 40 percent compared to the same month last year. REALTORS’® confidence in the market was high in November as the REALTOR® Market Confidence Index was up significantly from the same time last year.

Mayor Sarno reminded residents of the senior citizen circuit breaker income tax credit available when they file their personal income tax returns. In calendar 2013, the last year for which data is reported, some 1174 Springfield households claimed the credit, for an average credit of $718.

The City of Boston is committed to connecting Boston's military families with the resources and assistance they are entitled to. Earlier this year, Mayor Walsh released "An Action Plan to End Veteran and Chronic Homelessness In Boston: 2015 - 2018", which outlines the City's strategies to transform Boston's homeless response system in order to end veterans homelessness by 2015 and chronic homelessness by 2018.

The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that ongoing buyer activity in the spring pushed single-family home sales up in July over 19 percent compared to the same time last year. This is the biggest year-over-year increase since September 2013. The median price of single family homes was also up for the 11 time in the last 13 months. New listings added to the market were up almost seven percent over last year. Both condominium closed sales and median prices were up.

American Realty Advisors announced the sale of an office complex comprising 294,663 square feet located in Waltham, Massachusetts. The property, which was sold to a strategic buyer for an undisclosed amount, consists of three buildings that are situated in one of the Boston metro’s premier suburban markets, according to Scott Darling, President of American Realty Advisors

The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that the summer market has remained strong as pending home sales went up over 37 percent from the same time last year. The REALTOR® Market Confidence Index was up 20 percent from July 2014. This month’s “Hot Topic” question finds that a third of REALTORS® who responded reported an increase in the use of seller contingencies because of the low number of homes for sale.
