Weymouth Broker Installed as 2016 President-Elect of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors®

WALTHAM, Mass. – December 67, 2016 – (RealEstateRama) — Rita Coffey, Carver resident and associate broker at CENTURY 21 Tullish & Clancy in Weymouth, was installed on December 5, 2016 as president-elect of the 24,000-member Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) for 2017.  The event took place at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute in Boston, Mass. and included the installation of the MAR Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Coffey’s term officially begins on January 1, 2017.

As president-elect, Coffey will participate at all levels of the Association’s decision-making process, represent the Association at important meetings and business functions, and serve as a spokesperson for the Association on various real estate industry-related matters.  In addition, she will perform the duties of the Association’s president in his absence.  She automatically becomes a member of the MAR Executive Committee and Board of Directors as a result of this election.

Prior to being elected as 2017 president-elect, Coffey was the 2016 South Shore Region vice president of MAR. She was the 2015 recipient of the MAR Public Policy and Property Right Advocacy Award. Coffey has been a member of the MAR Board of Directors as either a Director or Alternate Director since 2004 and has been a Realtors® Political Action Committee (RPAC) Trustee for a number of years. In 2015, Coffey was the chair of the MAR RPAC Trustees, and she has been the Chair of the Professional Standards, Communications and Public Relations and Forms Content Advisory Committees. She is a member of the Finance and Strategic Planning Committees.

Coffey was the 2009 President of the Plymouth and South Shore Association of Realtors®. She served as a director to the association from 2005 to 2010 during which time she was recognized as a Realtor® of Outstanding Service. In 2011 she was also awarded as the PASS Realtor® of the Year. From 2013 to 2015 Coffey was the chair of Government Affairs for Plymouth and South Shore.

At the national level, Coffey was a National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Director in 2011 and she served on the RPAC Participation Council for Massachusetts in 2015. Coffey was the Massachusetts representative on the NAR Insurance Committee in 2015 and 2016. She has been the Federal Political Coordinator to Congressman William Keating since 2011 and the Federal Political Coordinator to the Massachusetts Insurance Commissioner. She also served on the Broker Involvement Council from 2013 to 2014. Coffey currently serves on the NAR RPAC Major Investor Council.

A Realtor® since 1983, Coffey has earned her Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), professional designation as well as the Loss Mitigation Certification (LMC).
