The Boston Public Health Commission today announced $100,000 in grant awards to four Boston community health centers.  The funds will support health centers in implementing improvements to their systems and services that will enable them to better serve residents of Boston Housing Authority (BHA) developments

Wednesday, January 6, 2016 - The Boston Public Health Commission today announced $100,000 in grant awards to four Boston community health centers. The funds will support health centers in implementing improvements to their systems and services that will enable them to better serve residents of Boston Housing Authority (BHA) developments.

Low-income families living at the 120-unit Madison Park Village III in Roxbury will see extensive property improvements and the long-term extension of affordability as a result of $35 million in MassHousing financing.

The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that home sellers were thankful for strong buyer activity in November as pending home sales were up close to 40 percent compared to the same month last year. REALTORS’® confidence in the market was high in November as the REALTOR® Market Confidence Index was up significantly from the same time last year.

The Boston Housing Authority (BHA) announced today that it has selected affordable housing non-profit IBA - Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción as the developer for its West Newton/Rutland Streets properties, which includes the revitalization of 146 units in the public housing site in Boston’s historic South End

The Boston Housing Authority has awarded Community Builders, Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation, and Urban Edge the developer designation for its Amory Street Development. Amory Street is an elderly/disabled public housing development in Jamaica Plain.  The three accomplished non-profit and local developers have joined together to create the Amory Partners, a joint venture, led by The Community Builders group.

The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that the traditional “back-to-school” season didn’t slow buyer activity in September as pending home sales went up over 35 percent from the same month last year. REALTORS® confidence in the market was high in September as the REALTOR® Market Confidence and Price Indexes were both up from September 2014. Musante died Sunday after an ambulance responded to his home for a medical emergency at 8:45 a.m. The son of former Northampton Mayor David Musante, John Musante came to Amherst as finance director in in 2004 and was named town manager in 2010. He had previously been finance director of Northampton, as well as budget director and chief of staff for New Bedford and the town manager in Lenox

Massachusetts REALTORS® were on Beacon Hill today to testify on behalf of H.226 An Act regulating secondary metals dealings. While the foreclosure crisis has passed and the market is healthy, the problem of copper theft from vacant and occupied homes continues to be a problem that hurts neighborhoods their home values.

The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that very strong buyer activity in August pushed pending home sales up over 40 percent from the same month last year. REALTORS® showed growing confidence in the market again in August as the REALTOR® Market Confidence Index was up over 20 percent from August 2014. This month’s “Hot Topic” question finds that “boomerang buyers” are not as active in Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported today that ongoing buyer activity in the spring pushed single-family home sales up in July over 19 percent compared to the same time last year. This is the biggest year-over-year increase since September 2013. The median price of single family homes was also up for the 11 time in the last 13 months. New listings added to the market were up almost seven percent over last year. Both condominium closed sales and median prices were up.
