The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) reported today that 2015 closed out with seven straight months of sales increases with December having the most closed sales of any December since 2004. Median prices were also up for seven straight months as home values neared pre-recession peaks. While condominium sales were up in December, prices were flat from 2014.

Boston Sets Affordable Housing Record
Mayor Martin J. Walsh announced today that Boston has surpassed the 1,000-unit mark of new affordable housing units permitted in a single year. The 1,022 new units of affordable housing permitted in 2015 is the largest number of new units permitted in a single year in 20 years of record-keeping. The previous record was 862 units in 2004. The Boston Transportation Department is reminding those coming into Boston to celebrate the holidays that the City’s holiday parking incentive is ongoing through the end of the day on Saturday, January 2, 2016. Two hours of free parking at any of the City’s 8,000 metered parking spaces is available by using the new ParkBoston app. To date, hundreds of free parking sessions have been gained by ParkBoston users since the incentive went into effect in late November
